1 N ' Ground Water Monitoring Report - Second Quarter 2000 GRANT LINE GAS & FOOD ' 2420 Grant Line Road, Tracy, California ' 1.0 INTRODUCTION ' At the request of Mr Joe Toste Jr , Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc (AGE), has prepared this Quarterly Report fol field activities performed at 2420 Grant Line Road, Tracy, California The site setting is illusti ated in Figui e 1 Monitoring well locations on the site at a illusti ated in Figure 2 A` ' detailed background of previous work performed at the site was presented in Quarterly Report - December 1996, dated 28 Febi uaiy 1996, prepared by AGE ' 2 0. PROCEDURES ' The gi ound watei monitoring activities wei e conducted in accoi dance with Central Valley Regional Watet Quality Conti of Boar d and San Joaquin County Public Health Services-Envii onmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) guidelines 1 2 1 MONITORING WELL PURGE PROCEDURES ' On 17 April 2000, the water level in monitor mg wells MW-1 through MW-8 was measured 1 elative to the tops of the well casings using a Solinst water level meter After water levels were measured, ' a two-stage submersible pump was used to pui ge each well Two to six gallons (a minimum of thr ee well volumes) of water wei e removed from each well Tempel ature, pH and conductivity of the put ged gi ound water wei e measui ed at one and two-gallon inter vals using a Hydac water analyzer dui ing pui ging The measurements had genei ally stabilized by the end of the purging pi ocess Purged watei was stat ed on-site in 55-gallon, Department of Ti ansportation (DOT)-appy oved drums Field Ilogs are included in Appendix A ' 22 COLLECTION OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES Pi ioi to collection of ground water samples,the depth to gi ound water was measured in each purged well to ensure that a minimum of 80% of the well volume had recharged Water samples were collected from each well using anew disposable plastic bailer Each water sample was ti ansfen ed into one 1-1 ambei bottle and three chilled 40-m1 volatile organic analysis (VOA) vials containing 0 5 rn1 18% hydrochloric acrd (HCl) as a sample presei vative On 18 Apr il 2000, MW-4 was 1 e-sampled because the I-litei ambei bottle broke during tiansport to McCambell Analytical, Inc (MAI) Aftel collection, the samples were labeled and placed in a chilled container for transportation undei chain- of-custody to MAI, a California Department of Health Sei vices(DHS)-certified analytical laboi atoiy • IAdvanced GeoEnvironrnental Inc
