I• 27 March 2000
AGE-NC Project No 95-0111
Benzene was detected in samples collected from wells MW-1 and MW-2 at concentrations of 22 kigll
' and 0 69µg/1,respectively Ethylbenzene was detected in wells MW-1 and MW-2 at concentrations
of 1 8µg/1 and 2 2µg/l,respectively Xylenes were detected in samples from wells MW-1 and MW-
2 at concentrations of 2 9 ,ugll and 3 8µg/l, respectively
' MTBE was detected by EPA Method 8260 Modified in samples collected from wells MW-1, MW-
4, MW-5 and MW-7 at concentrations of 13 µg/l, 11 µg11, 5 1 4g/1, and 16 µg11, respectively TBA
' was detected in the sample collected from well MW-5 at a concentration of 5 6 µgll
' "Analytical results of ground water samples are summarized in Table 2 and Table 3 The laboratory
report (MAI Laboratory Sample Nos 28043 to 28050), quality assurance and quality control report
and chain-of-custody form are included in Appendix B
I
4.0 SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
Based upon data collected from the site during the current and preceding ground water monitoring
events, AGE concludes
• o The northerly ground water flow direction inferred from data collected during this
monitoring event is consistent with ground water flow directions determined during past
Ievents at the site
• The concentrations of TPH-g, TPH-d and BTEX detected in the ground water samples
remain near the low end of the range of concentrations previously detected
• The TPH-d detected in samples from wells MW-4 and MW-5 demonstrates the presence of
a persistent plume of dissolved diesel fuel in ground water along the north edge of the site
r • Oxygenated fuel additive was detected in the sample collected from wells at the northern
edge of the site
I
5 0. RECOMMENDATIONS
One-year of monitoring data from wells MW-7 and MW-8, and the results of more than five years
of monitoring ground water in the other monitoring wells has shown that the ground water flow
direction has been consistently toward the north-northeast to northeast The data also demonstrates
that the plume of hydrocarbon-impacted ground water may be stable and not actively migrating
' AGE believes it is time to determine suitability of the site for closure
IAdvanced CeoEnvironmental Inc
