1 - <br />' 10 May 1999 <br />_ • AGE-NC Project No 95-0111 <br />' Page 2 of 6 <br /> Selected samples were analyzed for <br />' • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and as diesel (TPH-g and TPH-d) by <br />' EPA Method 8015 Modified for each range of hydrocarbons, <br /> • Volatile aromatic compounds (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes BTEX) by <br /> EPA Method 8020, and <br />' • Oxygenated compounds,di-isopropyl ether(RIPE),ethyl tertiary butyl ether(ETBE),methyl <br /> tertiary-butyl ether(MTBE),tertiary amyl methyl ether(TAME)tertiary butyl alcohol(TBA) <br />' by EPA Method 8260 Modified <br /> During drilling, auger returns were monitored for the presence of organic vapor using an organic <br />' vapor analyzer (OVA) equipped with a photo-ionization detector (PID Thermo Environmental <br /> 580A, 10 0 eV, calibrated to isobutylene) Auger returns were placed on plastic and stored on-site <br /> pending laboratory analysis and disposal at a licenced facility <br /> 2 2 LOGGING <br />'• Duplicate soil samples were extruded from the second brass sleeve or sampler body and were <br /> screened for the presence of organic vapor,using the OVA The OVA readings were recorded on the <br />' boring logs The soil was then described in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System <br /> (see Boring Logs, Appendix A) <br /> 1 _ <br /> 23 WELL COMPLETION <br />' Borings MW7 and MW8 were completed as ground water monitoring wells MW-7 and MW-8, <br /> respectively The wells were constructed using two 2-inch diameter, schedule 40 PVC casing with <br />' the following designs and material <br /> • Monitoring wells MW-7 and MW-8 were completed with 0 02-inch slotted screen,the screen <br />' interval was installed from depths of 5 to 15 feet bsg A filter pack was installed using #3 <br /> Lonestar sand from 3 to 15 feet bsg Bentonite chips were used to make a one-foot transition <br /> seal above the sand pack The remaining annular space was backfilled to within six inches <br />' of surface grade with portland cement A traffic-rated well box (8-inch diameter) was <br /> installed over each well, in accordance with County regulations Monitoring well design <br />' specifications are depicted in Appendix A <br /> • <br />' Advanced GeoEnviron mental Inc. <br /> 1 <br />
