SOIL SUITABILITY STUDY <br /> Introduction <br /> Live Oak GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (Live Oak) was contracted by Brian McNamara to <br /> conduct a Soil Suitability Study and Nitrate Loading Study for the property located at <br /> 9698 South Priest Road, French Camp, California (Plate 1). <br /> The Soil Suitability Study and Nitrate Loading Study are combined under this report <br /> cover and presented as two sections of this report. The formatting of the report has <br /> been designed to follow the recommendations of the San Joaquin County <br /> Environmental Health Department as described in its Soil Suitability Study <br /> Requirements Checklist and Nitrate Loading Study Requirements Checklist. <br /> The Soil Suitability Study and Nitrate Loading Study were conducted to determine <br /> whether the soils are suitable for use with a septic system, as well as to estimate if the <br /> use of septic systems will impact ground water quality. The study was performed <br /> according to the requirements of Section 9-1105.2(d) of the San Joaquin County <br /> Development code. <br /> Proposed Development <br /> According to the information on file at the San Joaquin County Community Development <br /> Department, the Kusalakari Corporation intends to develop "a Neighborhood Religious <br /> Assembly (maximum 200 persons) in the Buddhist Theravada tradition. The facility will <br /> consist of Monastic facilities and functions offering meditation retreats and religious <br /> instruction for laypersons." <br /> Specifically, the project consists of "a Monastery/Meditation Retreat Center ... to be built <br /> in four phases over seven years. Phase One, to be completed in 18 months, includes <br /> the construction of a 600 square foot maintenance shed, the conversion of an existing <br /> 1,804 square foot barn into a reception area and office, the conversion of an existing <br /> 5,000 square foot barn into an ordination hall, and the construction of a 5,900 square <br /> foot assembly hall. Phase Two, to be completed in three years, includes the <br /> construction of a 3,600 square foot addition to the ordination hall for kitchen and dining <br /> facilities, a 1,650 square foot residential unit, and a 1,500 square foot residential unit. <br /> Phase Three, to be completed in five years, includes the construction of a 1,650 square <br /> foot residential unit and a 1,500 square foot residential unit. Phase Four, to be <br /> completed in seven years, includes the construction of a 1,650 square foot residential <br /> unit." A site plan is presented as Plate 2. <br /> LOGE 1938 Page 1 <br />
