INTRODUCTION
This report prepared by Touchstone Developments (Touchstone) documents the
removal of gasoline and used-oil Underground Storage Tanks (USTs) and
associated piping at the above referenced location (Figure 1) In addition, this
report describes and documents overexcavation activities, soil sampling of the
new UST excavation, and disposal of soil generated at this site
Gasoline and used-oil USTs, and product piping removals at this location were
performed on April 16,1996 Used-oil tank overexcavation activities were
performed on April 26, 1996
SITE CONDITIONS
The service station site consisted of two 10,000 gallon single wall steel gasoline
storage tanks, one 5,000-gallon single wall steel gasoline storage tank, one
1,000 gallon used-oil tank, two dispenser islands and associated product piping,
` and a station building housing three hydraulic hoists The site will be rebuilt as
a Chevron service station with new UST complex, dispenser island, and station
building locations Groundwater was not encountered in any excavation
observed by Touchstone at this location
SERVICE STATION FIELD ACTIVITIES
UST and associated piping removal, excavation, and backfill was performed by
Fillner Construction of West Sacramento, California A Touchstone
representative was on site to observe the removal/excavation activities, and to
collect soil samples from the excavations and soil stockpiles Eric Trevena from
San Joaquin County Public Health Services (SJCPHS) was present during the
UST and piping removal Harlin Knoll of the SJCPHS was on-site the day of the
UST removal and to observe used-oil overexcavation activities on April 26,
1996 Also on-site was Brett Hunter of Chevron Products Company
Transportation and disposal of the USTs and associated piping was
accomplished by,Erickson, Inc of Richmond, California
UST Sampling
Soil samples T1-S-15 0, T1-N-15 0, T2-S-15 0, T2-N-15 0, T3-S-16 0, and T3-N-
15 0 were collected from beneath each end of the gasoline USTs, in native soil,
at approximately 15 to 16 feet below ground surface (bgs) The UST excavation
measured approximately 38 feet long by 36 feet wide and 13 feet deep The soil
r sample locations are shown on Figure 2 and analytical data and sample depths
are presented in Table A
9-4183 Page 1
