1 <br /> NEW UST EXCAVATION SAMPLING <br /> Six soil samples, NT-1-10 0, NT-1-15 0, NT-2-10 0, NT-2-15 0, NT-3-10 0, AND <br /> NT-4-10 0, were collected from the corners of the new UST excavation on April <br /> 16, 1996 Soil sample depths were approximately 10 and 15 feet bgs Soil <br /> sample locations were designated by Harlin Knoll with the intent of determining <br /> whether soil from this excavation could be reused on-site Final excavation <br /> dimensions were approximately 40 feet long by 28 feet wide and 15 feet deep <br /> The new UST excavation extent and soil sample locations are shown on Figure <br /> 4 and soil sample analytical data are summarized in Table C <br /> Upon receipt of soil sample chemical analytical data, soil from the new UST <br /> excavation was approved by Harlin Knoll for reuse on-site A total of <br /> approximately 900 cy of soil was removed from the new UST excavation <br /> Approximately 600 cy of new UST soil was used to backfill the former UST <br /> excavation and piping trenches Approximately 100 cy of soil was used to raise <br /> grade across the site The remaining soil was transported by Allwaste <br /> Transportation and Remediation, Inc (Allwaste) to Browning-Ferris Industries' <br /> (BFI) Vasco Road Landfill located in Livermore, California <br /> STOCKPILE SAMPLING AND DISPOSAL <br /> Soil stockpiles SPA(A-D) through SP-5(A-D) represent approximately 450 cy of <br /> soil generated from UST and piping removal Four soil samples were collected <br /> and combined for approximately every 100 cy of stockpiled material Upon <br /> receipt ,of chemical analytical data, composites SP-1(A-D) through SP-4(A-D) <br /> were used as backfill material as described above The 50 cy represented by <br /> soil stockpile SP-5(A D) was transported by Allwaste to BFIs Vasco Road <br /> Landfill located in Livermore, California <br /> Stockpiles UOSP-1(A-D) through UOSP-6(A-D) represent approximately 600 cy <br /> of soil generated from the used-oil tank removal and overexcavation activities <br /> Upon receipt of chemical analytical data, the soil represented by UOSPA(A-D) <br /> through UOSP-6(A-D) was transported by Allwaste to BFIs Vasco Road Landfill <br /> located in Livermore, California Soil stockpile analytical results are summarized <br /> in Table D and stockpile locations are shown on Figure 5 <br /> SAMPLING PROTOCOL <br /> Verification soil samples were collected from the excavation sidewalls and/or <br /> bottoms at various depths or where hydrocarbon impact was suspected Soil <br /> samples were collected from the excavator or backhoe bucket by removing the <br /> top few inches of soil and pushing a clean, six-inch-long, two-inch diameter, <br /> 9-4183 Page 3 <br />
