PHSIEHD has a contract with the
California State Water Resources Control Board to conduct a UST corrective action program.
The above referenced site was placed in the PHSIEHD Local Oversight Program (LOP) in June
1993.
In February 1998, four USTs were removed at this site and new USTs were installed. Soil
analytical results for samples collected in the former tank location and the piping trenches
evidenced gasoline, diesel, TBA, and MTBE contamination. Some contaminated soil was
excavated from the UST and piping areas. Soil samples were collected for analyses and
contaminant concentrations remaining in place are as high as the following: TPH-G 1800 ppm,
TPH-D 12 ppm, TBA 12 ppm, xylene 99 ppm, ethylbenzene 10 ppm, and MTBE 4.9 ppm. Due to
the high concentration of residual contamination, additional work will be required at this site.
Please submit a work plan by July 30, 2001, to further investigate soil and groundwater
contamination. Based upon your findings, a feasibility study shall be conducted and remedial
action implemented.
Be advised that the City of Stockton has recently installed a public water well near your site
approximately 2000 feet to the south at 7400 West Lane Frontage. The well is 600 feet in total
depth, has a 24-inch diameter casing, and will most likely be put in use soon.
If you have any further questions regarding this matter, contact Harlin Knoll at(209)468-3442.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Harlin Knoll, Senior REHS Margare agorio, REHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor
cc: CVRWQCB—Marty Hartzell
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
