A progress update on items 1 through 4 is summarized below:
Contact Well Owners: During January and February 2010,CRA contacted the well owners
either by telephone, letter or during site visits. The information gathered indicates that there
are six well owners (Table 1).
Field Verify the Well Locations: The initial receptor survey identified three wells located
approximately 2,000 feet from the Site (SAIC,June 6,2008). Field reconnaissance efforts during
late 2008 (CRA,January 8,2009) and January and February 2010 verified the three wells and
also discovered an additional four wells. As shown on Figure 2,there are seven wells,
numbered 1 through 7located on properties along Hansen Road. Six of the wells are located
northwest of the Site along Hansen Road and south of Interstate 205. One well, number 4,is
located approximately 2,300 feet southwest of the Site. With property owner approval,CRA
surveyed the latitude and longitude of each well except number 4 using a hand held GPS unit.
Determine the Well's Operational Status: CRA asked the well owners to complete surveys
relating to well use and construction. Four surveys have been returned at this time. As shown
in Table 1,the six water supply wells are used for domestic purposes. Wells 1,3,5,and 6 are
also used for irrigation purposes. Well construction details are provided where available:
Five of the six wells (1,2,3,5,and 6) are operational and can be sampled. Well 7 does not have
a pump and therefore,is not operating. Well 1 has a water treatment system and the other
wells do not.
Well Sampling Protocol: The well sampling protocol is being submitted with this letter under
separate cover.
As outlined in the CRA's November 30,2009 letter, the well sampling will be performed
following receipt of access agreements and RWQCB staff's approval of the well sampling
protocol. The tentative schedule is to obtain access agreements by March 31,2010 and sample
shortly thereafter.
Worldwide Engineering, Environmental, Construction, and IT Services
