This letter responds to the <br /> California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Regions (CVWB) 29 <br /> September 2009 letter to Shell and addresses two issues: (1) the water supply well sampling <br /> request, and (2) the basis for establishing a vertical investigation limit for the site. Shell's <br /> responses are discussed below. <br /> WATER SUPPLY WELL SAMPLING <br /> CVWB Item 1 <br /> "In a letter dated 15 July 2008, staff provided Shell the option to sample these wells or explain why any <br /> of the wells need not be tested. The last extended deadline for this task was 15 June 2009. To date a <br /> reason for not testing the wells has not been provided." <br /> Response <br /> As presented in CRA's 15 June 2009 letter, "prior to sampling the water supply wells a site conceptual <br /> model (SCM) would be prepared to assist with evaluating the need to sample the wells or assist with <br /> providing the justification for not sampling the wells."
