Weber, Third Floor
Stockton, CA 95202
Re: Variance from Permit SR#0027293
Former Shell Central Valley Crude Oil Pipelines
Hansen Road
Tracy, California
Dear Mr. Infurna:
IT Corporation(IT)has prepared this letter on behalf of Shell Oil Company as per your
request to document changes in planned activities at the above-referenced site.
IT completed a total of twenty-four soil borings under permit SR#0027293 numbered B-1
through B-24. Borings B-1 through B-4 were completed utilizing direct-push technology.
Due to the nature of the materials encountered, B-5 through B-24 were completed using a
hollow-stem auger drilling rig with 6-inch augers. An additional seventeen borings,
numbered B-25 through B-40 and B-42, were completed under permit SR#0028708
utilizing direct push technology.
All borings were advanced to first encountered groundwater, ranging from 32 to 38 feet
below ground surface and backfilled using tremie pipe and neat cement grout to
approximately 3 feet below ground surface.
The anticipated remaining seven step-out borings for this site are on hold briefly until all
analytical results are reviewed.
NAPROJECTSUT GROUP\SHELL OIL\NEW FOLDERWOURCATION LETTER.DOC
