fJA
ddAl
3330 Cameron Park Drive Suite 550 Cameron Park CA 95682
Phone:(530)676-6004—Fax(530)676-6005
CLARIFICATION TO PUBLIC NOTICE FOR CLOSURE OF ENVIRONMENTAL CASE
Knowles Property,7835 Thornton Road
Stockton,California
Statement of Clarification
In early May 2015, Stratus Environmental, Inc., with the approval of San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department (SJCEHD) distributed a public notice fact sheet regarding the closure of an
environmental case related to a release of motor vehicle fuels to the subsurface. The form stated that the
public notice was being completed for a property at 7835 Thornton Road. a.k.a. 1140 West Hammer
Lane. This environmental case pertains to the vacant lot located at the southwestern corner of the
intersection of Thornton Road and West Hammer Lane, and not the retail shopping facility at 1140 West
Hammer Lane. Formerly, the vacant lot area maintained an address of 1140 West Hammer Lane;
however, this land parcel has since been subdivided from the land parcel that maintains the current 1140
West Hammer Lane address. Since the onset of the environmental case(mid 1980's),the parties involved
with the project(consultants working on behalf of the Knowles', SJCEHD,the California Regional Water
Quality Control Board [RWQCB], California's Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund, etc.) have
regularly referred to the site as it's original address of 1140 West Hammer Lane, in formal and informal
correspondence, for continuity purposes and to maintain consistency with historical project records. We
apologize for any confusion this may have caused.
Further Information and Public Comment Opportunity
Between May 11 and July 10, 2015, SJCEHD will be accepting public comments regarding the proposed
case closure for the vacant lot property at 7835 Thornton Road. Comments should be submitted in
writing to Mr. Gabriel Gonzalez, 1868 East Hazelton Avenue, Stockton,California 95205. Mr. Gonzalez
may also be reached at gagonzalez u,sicelid.com or(209)468-3442. For further information regarding the
environmental case at 7835 Thornton Road, please reference the State of California's GeoTracker
Website (geotracker.waterboards.ca.gov), site T0607700078. For further information regarding the State
Water Resources Control Board's `LTCP', we suggest entering the words `Low Threat Closure Policy'
into an intemet search engine; this should provide a link to a PDF version of this document within a State
of California website(waterboards.ca.gov).
