Hammer Lane, Stockton, California (Figure 1)
Dear Mr. Knoll:
This Workplan is submitted on behalf of the Harold and Dena Knowles Family Trust in response
to a San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) directive dated November 7,
2001. This Workplan describes the proposed methodology to install and sample a replacement
for well MW8, which was destroyed under permit from EHD.
The general scope of work will consist of drilling and sampling one soil boring east of well MW5
to replace well MW8. Upon completion of the well and receipt of soil and groundwater
analytical results, a technical report summarizing the methods and results will be prepared and
submitted to EHD.
SCOPE OF WORK
Drilling, Well Construction and Soil Sampling
One monitoring well will be installed near the southeast corner of the intersection of Hammer
Lane and Thornton Road. A site plan showing potential locations of the replacement well is
presented on Figure 2. The actual location would be determined after a field inspection to
evaluate the locations of existing utilities. This installation assumes that the current property
owner would authorize Ground Zero to enter the property and install the required well.
A drilling contractor with a C-57 license will advance the boring using a drilling rig equipped
with hollow stem augers. Based upon recent water level measurements at the site between
approximately 31 feet below ground surface (bgs) and 36 feet bgs, the well will be completed to a
G:\Data\GROUNDZE\KNOWLES.HAM\REPORTS\WKPLAN-MW8R.doe
