The EHD:required Ultramar to:either conduct soil gas investigation and
compare the results to the San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board
(SFBRWQCB), Environmental Screening Levels (ESL) or provide a technical justification why a
soil gas investigation was not needed if adequate data was available from the site to support a
conclusion that the residual petroleum contamination in the subsurface at the site does not pose
a vapor intrusion hazard.
t site and cannot concur with the.conclusion that there
The -EHD has evaluated:the data for he .
may not be-a significant threat to the.public from vapor :intrusion rat, this active gas station. In
researching the soil plume extent, the EHD could not find data points be the contaminated
soil detected in wells MW-1/VW-1&2 and easterly.towards the building. The soil plume is hot
defined in this area and a potential for a soil vapor intrusion may be present. The EHD cannot
accept the technical justification that a soil vapor intrusion threat is not present and directs you
to conduct a.soil gas investigation between the building-and the UST pit and east of the UST-pit.
A proposal to conduct this required investigation is to be.submitted to Geotracker by March 5,
2010.
