<br /> In correspondence dated August 21, 2008, the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
<br /> Department (EHD) approved discontinuation of operation of the vapor extraction system at the
<br /> above subject site and required a plan be submitted to collect soil vapor samples to evaluate
<br /> vapor intrusion risks prior to a request for no further action being submitted for the site.
<br /> The EHD has received Soil Gas Investigation Work Plan dated October 30, 2009, prepared by
<br /> Horizon Environmental Inc. for the site. This letter is to advise you that since the August 21,
<br /> 2008, EHD letter, other methods have been accepted for addressing the risk of vapor intrusion.
<br /> Comparing the levels of soil vapor detected in influent vapor samples obtained from the vapor
<br /> extraction system, prior to its discontinuation of operation, to the San Francisco Bay Regional
<br /> Water Quality Control Board Environmental Screening Levels may be an option for this site.
<br /> Also, evaluating the mass of residual contamination, its potential to migrate and the commercial
<br /> use of the site may be used to address the risk of vapor intrusion.
