HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL INC.
Specialists in Site Assessment,Remedial Testing Design and Operation
iAugust 28, 2001
Mr Joe Aldridge
Ultramar Inc
685 West Third Street
Hanford, California 93230
Subject Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report
Second Quarter 2001
Beacon Station No 3641
1210 East Hammer Lane, Stockton, California
Mr Aldridge
Horizon Environmental Inc (Horizon) has prepared this report which documents results of
second quarter 2001 groundwater monitoring at the subject site located in San Joaquin
County as shown on Figure I There are currently eight groundwater monitoring wells
(MW-1 through MW-8), eight vapor wells (VW-1 through VW-8) and one sparge well (SW-
1) at the site (Figure 2) All wells are located on site except for monitoring wells MW-2 and
MW-8 The former and current underground storage tank (UST) locations are in the west
central portion of the site
Groundwater Monitoring
Groundwater monitoring activities were conducted by Doulos Environmental Company
(Doulos) on 19 June 2001 according to Ultramar Inc Field Procedures (Attachment A )
Monitoring activities included measurement of static groundwater level, purging
groundwater from the wells, collection of groundwater samples, and preparation and
delivery of the samples to the analytical laboratory Vapor wells VW-2, VW-4, VW-6 and
VW-8 were dry
The depth to groundwater was measured to the nearest 0 01 foot from the top-of-casing
(TOC) in monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-8, sparge well SW-1 and vapor wells VW-1,
VW-3, VW-5 and VW-7 The physical parameters conductivity, pH and temperature of the
groundwater were monitored with field instrumentation during the purging process The
visual characteristics of the groundwater were also noted during the purging process Field
groundwater level and purge data were recorded on the Doulos Groundwater Level Data
and Sampling Information Sheets (Attachment B)
Groundwater samples were collected from all eight monitoring wells, the sparge well and
four of the eight vapor wells The groundwater samples were submitted, under chain-of-
custody documentation, to Kiff Analytical (Kiff), a California-certified analytical laboratory
. (ELAP No 2236) located in Davis, California The groundwater samples were analyzed for
5011 Golden Foothill Parkway Suite 7 .
