24 June 2008
AGE-NC Project No. 05-1286
non-hazardous waste. Soil was characterized by laboratory analysis.
3.4.1. Well Development Groundwater
On 28 April and 01 May 2008,approximately 4,205 gallons of drilling rinse water, well development
purge water and purge water from previous monitoring events was pumped from the 2,500-gallon
and 700-gallon poly tanks, and 55-gallon steel drums,by Warren E. Gomes Excavating Inc. of Rio
Vista, California, and transported under manifest to Instrat, Inc., of Rio Vista, California, for a
licensed waste water disposal facility. Waste manifests are included in Appendix E. Additionally,
on 12 through 14 May 2008 approximately 1,421 gallons of well purge water was injected through
the ground water recirculation system as approved by the Regional Board, which was in operation
for a Regional Board-approved ground water recirculation pilot study.
3.4.2. Soil Profiling for Waste Disposal
On 25 April 2008,4-point composite soil samples from the soil cuttings were collected by an AGE
representative from each 20-cubic yard soil bin. Soil samples were collected from the north, east,
south and west sides of each bin utilizing a slide-hammer and core sampler loaded with two 2-inch
by 6-inch stainless steel sleeves. One sleeve was removed from the core sampler. Each end of the
sample sleeve was sealed with a teflon sheet, capped and taped. The sample sleeves were then
labeled with the date, time, sample ID,site ID,and samplers initials, and placed in a chilled ice chest.
The composite samples were shipped via overnight courier to Cal Tech Environmental Laboratory
(CTEL), a California certified laboratory for analysis. The composite sample was analyzed for:
• Volatile Organic Compounds in accordance with EPA method 8260B and
• Total lead in accordance with EPA method 6010B.
3.4.3. Soil Disposal
On 02 June 2008, approximately 25.14 tons of soil were transported as non-hazardous waste by
Allied Waste of Stockton,California, under waste acceptance number 7710,to Forward Landfill,a
licensed class II disposal facility located in Manteca, California, for proper disposal. The waste
manifests are included in Appendix E.
4.0. FINDINGS
Soil stratigraphy was determined from field data. The soil was characterized for waste profiling from
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
