It is hoped that the City of Stockton has already submitted a Clean-
up Fund application as suggested in 1994.
Site Summary
The 500 gallon tank # 39-2403-01 which stored diesel was removed on March 9, 1994
and samples were collected following a limited over-excavation. The bottom of the tank ,
pit was at 7 feet. The contractor, Majestic, excavated down to 12 feet. The PHS/EHD
inspector, P.Violett, noted that there was still strong evidence of contamination on the
bottom, north sidewall, and in the area of the dispenser. The stockpile samples (2
composited into 1) showed evidence of contamination. After sampling was completed, the
pit was lined with visqueen and the stockpiled soil returned to the tank pit. The inspector
further noted that the tank had many holes throughout.
Sample ID Depth TPH-diesel benzene toluene ethylben xylene
T-1 13 feet 4140 <.005 <.005 3.2 8.6
North wall 7 feet 1880 <.005 <.005 0.03 0.11
(NW1) 7
stockpile 3710 <.005 <.005 0.06 0.34
Note: all sample results in ppm (mg/kg)
The tank was disposed of at Leavy Iron Metal, 2727 S. Highway 33, Patterson
CA 95363. r
Seasonal high depth to groundwater (Spring 1986) was 25 feet and current groundwater in
the area (1612 Hammer Lane) is approximately at 39 feet.
PHSIEHD suggests that 3 -5 soil borings be advanced to determine the vertical and
horizontal extent of the soil contamination using either conventional drilling equipment
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
t
