Three soil borings were advanced at the above-referenced site
and were subsequently converted to Monitoring wells on August 19, 1998. Analytical
results of the soil sample taken at the lowest depth of 28.5 feet below surface grade
(bsg) at Monitoring Well #1 (MW-1) were 3.9 parts per billion (ppb) of Total
Petroleum Hydrocarbon as diesel (TPH-d), from MW-2 were 1,500 ppb of TPH-d and:
870 ppb of TPH-gasoline (TPH-g), and from MW-3 were 12 ppb of TPH-d and 3.9 ppb
f of TPH-g. Analytical results of the water sample collected from MW-2 during the
latest round of monitoring event were 36,000 ppb of TPH-d and 220 ppb of TPH-g,
and from MW-3 the results were 380 ppb of TPH-d. Based on.the last five quarterly
monitoring reports (QMR), groundwater flow direction has been consistently
southeastward toward the railroad track beyond the property boundary. The railroad
track is owned by Burlington:Northern Santa Fe Railway (BNSF).
j The Workplan for Additional Subsurface Investigation dated June 28, 1999 prepared by
ATC to address the extent of the contamination plume was approved by this office on
July 1, 1999. In a telephone conversation on August 18, 1999, ATC informed
PHS/EHD that both you and ATC had been unable to obtain from BNSF a permit to
i encroach on their property to carry out the above-mentioned work. At the request of
ATC, a letter dated August 25, 1999 from this office was mailed to you and a copy of it
was sent to BNSF citing the statues requiring the investigation of the UST
unauthorized release. The work has still not been performed.
A Division of San]oaquin County Health Care Services
