Weber Street, Third Floor ' <br /> Stockton, California 95202- - <br /> Subject: <br /> 5202Subject: Workplan for Subsurface Investigation at Continental Grain, 1805 Harbor Street, <br /> Stockton, California <br /> Dear Mr. Askanas: <br /> :Smith Technology Corporation (ATC Associates) has prepared this workplan, on behalf <br /> Continental Grain for the performance of a subsurface investigation at the above referenced site. <br /> The purpose of the subsurface investigation is to determine the vertical and horizontal extent of <br /> soil and groundwater contamination, if any, in the vicinity of the former underground storage <br /> tanks (USTs). This work being done at the direction of San Joaquin County Public Health <br /> Services Environmental Health Division (PHSIEHD). The proposed scope of work includes <br /> obtaining permits, advancing at least three soil borings, soil and groundwater sampling, laboratory <br /> analysis of selected soil and groundwater samples, and preparing a summary report. The scope of <br /> work is described in detail in the following paragraphs. <br /> SITE LOCATION <br /> The site is. located on .the north side of Harbor Street and south of the Deep Water Channel in <br /> I Stockton, California, as shown on Figure 1. The location is an industrial area and the site is <br /> currently occupied by Continental Grain. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> In January1988 two 12 000- allon diesel USTs one 10 000- allon gasoline UST one 750- <br /> g g <br /> gallon UST, and all associated piping were removed from the locations shown on Figure 2. One <br /> soil sample was collected from beneath the 750-gallon'UST and one soil sample was collected <br /> from each end of the 12,000-gallon and the 10,000-gallon USTs.
