Before receiving a ; <br /> PHS/EHD corrective action directive and in order to receive the SWRCB Clean up <br /> Fund Letter of Committment, you must make application to the State of <br /> California Water Resources Control Board's (SWRCB) "Petroleum Underground <br /> Storage Tank Cleanup Fund" (Fund) . An application package for the Fund has <br /> been provided. <br /> The Fund was created pursuant to Chapter 6.75 of the California Health and <br /> Safety Code to help eligible owners and operators of petroleum underground <br /> storage tanks to: <br /> 1. Meet federal requirements to demonstrate financial responsibility; <br /> 2. Obtain reimbursement for costs of the cleanup of unauthorized <br /> releases of .petroleum from USTs; and <br /> 3. Obtain reimbursement for damages awarded to third parties who are <br /> injured by petroleum releases. <br /> The maximum amount available from the Fund is $990,000 per occurrence. <br /> claimants are responsible for the first $10,000 of eligible costs. <br /> Applications must be submitted to the SWRCB Clean Up Fund by larch 31, 1994: to <br /> undergo eligibility ranking for funding in the 1994-95 state fiscal budget <br /> year. All subsurface investigations and remedial actions must be performed <br /> under a workplan approved by PHS/EHD. <br /> The Fund does not cover the costs incurred for the removal, repair, retrofit., <br /> or installation of USTs.
