. A S S O C I A T E S I N C
trace amount of TPHd detected in wells MW1 and MW2 in December 1998 and March 1999. To
perform mass balance calculations, ATC used the concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons
' detected in well MW3 from the most recent monitoring event. The total mass of dissolved
TPHss present in the saturated zone is estimated to be less than one-quarter pound. The total
mass of dissolved TPHd present in the saturated zone is estimated to be less than one-quarter
tpound. The total mass of dissolved TPHg present in the saturated zone is estimated to be less
than one-quarter pound. The total mass of BTEX present in the groundwater is estimated to be
' less than one-quarter pound. Mass balance calculations are included in Appendix D.
5.0 GROUNDWATER RECEPTOR SURVEY
' ATC reviewed Department of Water Resources (DWR) groundwater well construction logs, the
PHSIEHD well installation permit files, contacted California Water Service, and conducted a site
' walk in the vicinity of the site to identify any groundwater wells located within a 2,000-foot
radius of the site. The description information provided on the well construction logs was used to
locate the wells on a vicinity map according to "well location". Based on this information, one
' inactive groundwater supply well is located within approximately 2,000 feet of the site. The
remaining thirty-two wells identified are not used as groundwater supply wells. A site map
showing the survey area is presented on Figure 7.
Groundwater well constructions logs provided by DWR indicated that twenty-one groundwater
wells are located within 2,000 feet of the site. Nineteen of the groundwater wells identified (Wells
' 1-19, Figure 7) are groundwater monitoring wells or vapor wells. Two of the groundwater wells
identified (Wells 20 and 21) were classified as domestic wells on the well construction log, but the
' well construction logs also contain information indicating the wells were completed as part of
elevator shafts. The well logs contain no information on screen intervals or sand pack. None of the
twenty-one wells are used as a source of water. Available well construction logs are contained in
' Appendix E.
Groundwater wells discovered in PHSIEHD permit files indicated that eleven groundwater wells
are located within 2,000 feet of the site. All eleven groundwater wells identified (Wells 22-32,
Figure 7) are groundwater monitoring wells. None of the eleven wells are used as a source of
water. During the file review, PHSIEHD staff indicated that the printer was not functional and
copies of the permits were not made.
ATC contacted California Water Service and was informed that there is one well (Well 33,
' Figure 7) located within 2,000 feet of the site. The well is not active and has not been active for
the last twenty-three years. The well is located approximately 1,200 feet north and downgradient
from the site. No construction details were provided to ATC.
wAl7295Veportslclosure.doe 6
