1 <br /> GRANITE CONSTRUCTION <br /> WKA No 2088 07 <br /> April 7, 1995 <br /> Page 2 <br />' The site and surrounding areas are relatively flat, surface elevation on site is approximately 18 <br /> feet above sea level The site is bounded to the north and south by open fields and to the west <br />' by Harlan Road, a north-south trending Southern Pacific Railroad easement bounds the site to the <br /> east <br /> Physiographic and Hydrogeoiogic Setting <br /> I <br /> The site is located in the central portion of the Great Valley geomorphic province of California <br />' The Great Valley is bounded by the mountains and foothills of the Sierra Nevada Range to the <br /> east and the California Coast Ranges to the west The Geologic formations of the Great Valley <br />' are typified by thick sequences of alluvial sediments deposited during the filling of a large ancient <br /> basin The 1985 United States Geological Survey (USGS) "Geologic Map of the Late Cenozoic <br /> Deposits of the Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra Foothills, California," shows the site to <br /> be underlain by Holocene age basin deposits These deposits consist primarily of fine-grained silt <br /> and clay <br /> The site lies within the San Joaquin River Ground Water Basin (California Department of Water <br /> IResources, 1986) Ground water measurements made during our previous field investigations <br /> have found ground water depths ranging from 24 to 31 feet below site grade and variations in <br />' flow direction from a northeasterly to a northwesterly direction <br /> PROJECT HISTORY <br />' One waste oil, two diesel and two unleaded gasoline underground storage tanks (USTs) were <br /> removed from the site on April 22, 1992 Analysis of samples obtained from beneath the waste <br /> oil UST revealed low concentrations of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) as motor oil <br /> beneath the southern end of the tank Analysis of samples obtained from beneath the diesel and <br /> unleaded gasoline USTs revealed TPH as diesel concentrations ranging from <0 5 milligrams <br /> WALLACE HL <br /> Recycled ps <br /> aper SA SOCIATES INC <br />
