AFM®AWAFWArm%
San Joaquin/ARCO Meeting Minutes, March 30, 1993 Working To Restore Nature
the depth to water of the first water bearing zone. ARCO told SJ that the
depth to water will be measured during the next investigation and the data
will be forwarded to her.
o Margaret inquired if it was RESNA's policy to allow soil samples to be in the
ice cooler for longer than one day. She said that during a previous
investigation at the site, she saw samples in the ice cooler that were collected
from an earlier day. RESNA stated that samples are typically sent back to
sample control which is located in the Sacramento office via a RESNA
courier or laboratory courier; however, if samples cannot be picked up daily,
geologist are instructed to maintain proper preservation temperature in the
ice cooler.
ARCO SS No. 548, Hammer Lane, Stockton
o RESNA informed SJ that the additional onsite investigation had just been
completed. The investigation included the installation of one onsite
monitoring well and drilling four soil borings. The results of the investigation
will be presented in the next status report. RESNA summarized the results,
stating that hydrocarbons were not detected in soil samples collected from the
soil borings. A groundwater sample was collected from the newly installed
well on 3 /29/93 .
o Mary Meays asked how ARCO was going to respond to the line release that
occurred during the drilling operation. ARCO stated that a vapor-extraction
well would be installed near the release point and would be incorporated into
the future vapor-extraction system.
o Mary asked if further assessment beneath the oil-water separator had been
performed during the recent investigation (total oil and grease [TOG]
detected at 5 It bsg beneath separator during a previous investigation
performed by Environmental Audit). ARCO stated that further assessment
had not been performed and that the separator had been backfilled. RESNA
informed SJ that samples collected from borings B- 16 and 1347, which were
drilled to assess the extent of TOG previously detected in B- 12, did not
contain TOG. Mary said that the two borings should have been located closer
to the waste-oil tank. ARCO stated that the tank has tested tight and that the
investigation was not directed toward the waste-oil tank. In addition, the low
concentrations of TOG detected in the soil may not be petroleum based.
Diane Hinson said that SJc&PHS will accept a WET on a soil sample
7
