The VET
equipment consisted of an internal combustion (I C ) engine, instrumentation for measuring
air flowrate, air velocity, air pressure/temperature, and volatile organic compound
concentrations, and polvvinvi chloride piping and fittings for the wellhead connections.
Wells VW-1. VW-2, VW-3, MW-1, and NIW-2 were used during the VET The I C. engine
was initially operated for approximately l- minutes on well VW-2 to collect an influent soil
vapor sample This procedure was then repeated on well VW-1 for 15 minutes The I C
engine was then operated for approximately 5-1/2 hours on vapor-extraction well VW-3
while the vacuum influence of wells VW-1 VW-2, MW-1, and MW-2 were observed While
well VW-3 was used as the extraction well flowrates of approximately 29 and 74 cubic feet
per minute (cfm) were achieved and four influent and one effluent vapor samples were
04t3ccar
30004-5
