June 26, 1992
ARCO Service Station No. 549, Stockton, California
j
VaRor-Extraction Well Construction
On October 17, 18, and 21, 1991, Westex constructed vapor-extraction wells VW-1 through
VW-3 in borings B-10, B-11, and B-14, respectively. These borings were chosen because
field observations and photoionization detector readings indicated hydrocarbons were
present.
Monitoring Well Develo ment and Ground-Water Sam lin
On October 24, 1991, a technician from RESNA collected groundwater samples from the
monitoring wells for subjective analysis of hydrocarbons. The monitoring wells had no
floating product, therefore, the technician developed the wells. Procedures used during well
development and sampling are described in Appendix A.
On October 30, 1991, a technician from RESNA measured the depths to water in wells
MW-1 through MW-4, collected and examined ground-water samples from the wells for
subjective evidence of hydrocarbons, purged the wells and collected ground-water samples
for laboratory analyses. No subjective evidence of hydrocarbons was noted in the ground
water. Copies of the Chain of Custody Records are in Appendix B.
• All water purged during development and sampling was placed in Department of
Transportation 17E drums and left onsite. After receiving analytical results of the ground-
water samples from the laboratory, RESNA forwarded the results to ARCO, and at the
request of ARCO to Balch Petroleum. It is our understanding that ARCO and Balch
Petroleum coordinated the removal of purged water.
3OW4-4 6
f'
