Hammer Ln.
Stockton, CA 95209
San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division(PHS/EHD)
has reviewed the Supplemental Investigative Work Plan dated February 25, 2000
prepared by Cambria Environmental Technology, Inc., for the above referenced site.
Adequate and necessary elements contained in the Work Plan are a Monitoring Well
(MW) destruction and replacement, additional MW installations, deep boring to define
vertical contamination, soil and water sample collection and analysis, evaluation of the
pumping effects of a nearby Cal Trans well, a plan for contaminant migration control,
and a report of findings. PHS/EHD approves this Work Plan with the following
conditions:
1. The screened intervals for the proposed MW installations should be appropriate for
the suspected contaminant lithological pathway and should extend above the
groundwater level to allow for relevant sample collection. MWs currently located at
this site are screened below the groundwater level and may not reflect actual
groundwater conditions in regards to contamination. Additional MWs may need to
be constructed to determine the lateral extent of contamination.
2. Sample analysis should include testing for the Oxygenates MTBE, TAME, TBA,
DIPE, ETBE, 1,2-DCA and methanol and ethanol. Continue quarterly monitoring of
all MWs. Collect a water sample from the Cal Trans irrigation well and analyze for
the same constituents as above at the next sampling event. Some laboratories can run
a complete suite of petroleum constituents and fuel additives by EPA Method 826013,
thereby saving considerable cost.
3. A site specific Health and Safety Plan and written documentation verifying all record
fee title owners for this property should be submitted to PHS/EHD prior to initiating
work (see PHS/EHD letter dated January 11, 2000 for record fee title owner
information request).
4. Work should be completed within 90 days of the date of this letter and a report of
findings should be submitted to PHS/EHD within 60 days of work completion.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
