This was a change from the five-year review letters received previously over a
three-year period in which the CUF recommended implementation of groundwater remediation
to achieve water quality objectives in a timely manner.
The EHD responded to the CUF by letter dated 25 May 2011 and recommended that the CUF
refrain from issuing the site closure recommendation to permit a ninety-day ozone/hydrogen
peroxide injection pilot test to be performed beginning in June 2011. The CUF did not directly
respond to the EHD but did upload the original 18 April 2011 letter on 20 June 2011 to
GeoTracker, the SWRCB website.
In light of this, the EHD will work to close this site since the CUF has recommended site closure
and there are limited reimbursements of expenses allotted to sites that have been
recommended for closure consideration by the CUF. The EHD directs that all monitoring and
sampling at this site be suspended while the site is being considered for closure.
The EHD directs that a closure summary report be submitted to this agency by 09 July 2012
that:
• Includes the results of the ninety-day ozone/hydrogen peroxide injection pilot test;
• Provides an estimate when groundwater will return to water quality goals;
• Provides a declining trend analysis;
• Includes Table 1 — Checklist of Required Data for No Further Action Requests at
Underground Tank Sites (Appendix A — Reports, Tri-Regional Board Staff
Recommendations for Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation of Underground Tank
Sites), dated 16 April 2004, published by the California Environmental Protection
