MtBE detection will be confirmed by
EPA Method 8260. No additional oxygenate analysis of soil samples will be conducted based
upon non-detection of DIPE, ETBE, TAME, TBA, 1,2-DCA, EDB, methanol and ethanol in
excavation soil samples at depths ranging from 3 to 10 feet bgs.
Groundwater Analysis
Groundwater samples will be submitted to Sequoia Analytical a California State-certified
laboratory for analysis. Groundwater samples from the Geoprobe® borings and monitoring
wells will be analyzed for the presence of TPH-g, BTEX, and for five oxygenates (MtBE,
DIPE, ETBE, TAME and TBA) using EPA Methods 8015 Modified, 8020 and 8260,
respectively. Groundwater samples collected from monitoring wells also will be analyzed for
methanol, ethanol, 1,2-DCA and EDB using EPA Methods 8015 and 8260.
Well Surveying
Upon completion of well construction, the wells will be surveyed by a licensed surveyor for
elevation, relative to mean sea level. Groundwater gradient will be interpreted utilizing
wellhead elevations and depths to water
Well Search and Conduit Study
A search for domestic, municipal, agricultural and industrial wells within a 2,000-foot radius
of the site will be conducted. The Department of Water Resources (DWR) will be contacted
as well as other municipal water suppliers. A physical search will be conducted to confirm
locations of identified wells. Results of the search will tabulated and plotted on an area map.
Locations of underground utilities present at the site will be identified and included on a site
map.
Reporting and Schedule
After completion of all field work and laboratory analyses, the data will be evaluated and
assembled into a report. Included in the report will be soil and groundwater analytical results,
chain-of-custody-documentation, a summary of field activities and conclusions. This report
will be submitted to the SJCPHS/EHD within 6 to 8 weeks of receiving analytical results from
the laboratory.
\\SACRFP 1\COMMON\rancfp 1\Proj ects\Projects\880\040\1 a\0102\880040_wp.doc
