Since that time, you have been working to
obtain access agreements with the two parties upon whose land the monitoring wells will be placed. I understand
that you have recently finalized these access agreements and are now able to proceed with the field work. I
appreciate all of your hard work in obtaining these agreements.
Due to the delays in obtaining access, the schedule agreed to in my 9 September 1998 letter is out of date and
must be revised. Your consultant has informed me that he expects to begin field work by the end of April;
therefore, please submit a well installation report by 30 May 1999. The new wells should be sampled for the
first time as part of the site-wide second quarter sampling event and the results from all wells should be
presented in the 30 July 1999 second quarter monitoring report. Quarterly monitoring would then continue for
all wells as described in Monitoring and Reporting Program No. 97-805. Once the new wells have been sampled
for two quarters, the parties should meet(probably in early December 1999)to discuss remedial alternatives,
and a feasibility study for the selected alternatives(s)would be submitted by 15 February 2000.
As you know, I have received a promotion and will no longer be working on this site. We are in the process of
hiring a new staff person who should be on-board by early May and will be reached at(916)255-3080. If you
have any questions in the meantime, please contact Wendy Cohen at(916)255-3075.
WENDY WYELS, Chief
Waste Discharge to Land Unit
cc: Mr. Mike Infurna, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, Stockton
Mr. Daniel Munzer,Munco Inc.,Long Beach
Ms.Karen Baril,Cargill Inc.,Minneapolis,Minnesota
Ms_Manan Barbonio,Chevron Chemical Company, San Ramon
Mr. Sheldon Nelson, Chevron Research and Technology,Richmond
Mr.Brian Roberts, Chevron Corporation, San Francisco
Mr. Steve Larson,Cargill,Minneapolis,Minnesota
Mr.Anthony Ciasulli,Morgan,Lewis &Brockis,Los Angeles
Mr. Gerald Vogt;CH2M Hill,Redding PD j 1
Mr.Ken Laconde, SCS Engineers,Long BeachAPR - 71999 U
Mr.Barry Nicholson,Port of Stockton, Stockton
C e2M HILL
REDDiNG
California Environmental Protection Agency
ea
RecycledPaper
