Of
Ms. Leah Goldberg - 2 -
4.
2 -4. During a 30 April 1998 telephone conversation with Mr. Vogt, I agreed that a soil remediation
test using poplar trees could be performed at the Koppel site. The plan, included in the May
well installation work plan, to collect samples for baseline soil and groundwater conditions
within the grove of poplar trees is hereby approved. However, as I stated during a 10 June
telephone call to Mr. Vogt, analysis of soil for TKN and pH must also be performed. During
a telephone conversation on 10 June, Mr. Mike Infuma of San Joaquin County concurred
with me regarding the installation of the replacement well for KP-1 and the three piezometers
in the grove of poplars. That work plan, the proposed semi-annual water sampling and annual
soil sampling after the Spring 1999 sampling events, and the abandonment of certain
piezometers and damaged well KP-1 are hereby approved.
During a 27 May 1998 telephone conversation, Mr. Vogt told me the 12 May schedule of activities
has changed due to unforeseen weather conditions. According to Mr. Vogt, the report of GeoProbe
work and work plan for additional well installation will be submitted by 24 June 1998. This
submittal should include a revised schedule of activities for the site. Mr. Vogt stated that results
of the carbon enhanced bioremediation pilot test will be submitted by 5 July 1998. In the
quarterly monitoring report due by 30 July 1998, please include the results of installation of the
replacement well for KP-1 and the piezometers and the results of the initial groundwater samples
from these installations.
If you have any questions, I can be reached at(916) 255-3082.
WY
DAVID F.
