In addition to reviewing the workplan,
I met with your consultant and the Chevron staff to discuss my concerns. The workplan is approved
with the following additions and/or changes:
1. "Optional" locations shall be sampled if the closest upgradient location contains more than 10 mg/1
nitrate (as nitrogen) or more than I mg/1 ammonia(as nitrogen).
2. The Geoprobe groundwater samples shall be collected as close as possible to the top of the water
table.
3. It is proposed to collect groundwater samples from 5, 20, and 35 feet below ground surface at two
different locations. The first sample shall be collected as close as possible to the top of the water
table. The depths of the second and third samples may be changed by the CH2M Hill geologist if it
is not possible to collect a groundwater sample at 20 and 35 feet bgs.
4. Borings number 8 and number 21 shall be switched: the 3-depth samples shall be collected from
boring 8 and a single sample from boring 21.
5. Boring number 7 is shown on the map twice and boring 9 isn't shown. I assume that the boring 7
on the west side of the warehouse is actually boring 9.
6. Because borings number 27-30 are upgradient of monitoring well KP-1 they shall not be considered
optional borings. Groundwater samples must be collected from these four borings.
7. In order to obtain additional groundwater data points, the fourth quarter 1997 groundwater samples
shall be collected from the monitoring wells while this field work is being conducted.
Recycled Paper Our mission is to preserve and enhance the quality of California's water resources, and
ensure their proper allocation and efficient use for the benefit of present andfuture generations.
