We are in receipt of your letter dated April 7, 1995, <br /> requesting further site investigation at the Koppel Stockton Terminal <br /> (hereinafter the "Sites'). Thank you for sending the sampling data relating to <br /> the surface soil investigation conducted on March 6, 1995. <br /> We are also in receipt of the data from the split samples obtained from <br /> the Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region <br /> (hereinafter "RWQCB") on March 6, 1995, and analyzed by Roy F. Weston, <br /> Inc. (hereinafter "Weston"). I have enclosed this data for your information as <br /> attachment "A". As you will notice, the levels of nitrates in samples KOP-1, <br /> KOP-2, KOP-3, and KOP-5 are vastly different between the RWQCB's <br /> laboratory and Weston s laboratory. The analysis for ammonia does not show <br /> nearly the same disparities. <br /> Munco does not believe that the groundwater contamination on any of <br /> the nearby sites is related to or in any way affected by the fertilizer storage at <br /> the Koppel Stockton Terminal. The results from the samples taken on <br /> March 6, 1995, only show elevated concentrations of nitrates in the surface <br /> soils and "material apparently spilling out of the warehouse doors."
