Harlan Road, French Camp, California(Figure 1)
Dear Mr.Knoll:
As we discussed Lee & Pierce, Inc. (L&P) is submitting this workplan on behalf of Beneto Inc.
to abandon groundwater monitoring wells at the subject site. Pursuant to your letter dated July 2,
2007, L&P will destroy wells MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3 by pressure grouting. Monitoring well
locations are shown on Figure 2. Copies of well logs are included in Attachment A.
V&W Drilling (C57 License #720904) will destroy groundwater monitoring wells under the
supervision of a Lee & Pierce geologist. The wells will be destroyed by pressure grouting with
neat cement. Neat cement grout will be pumped into each well in turn through a tremie pipe
system in one continuous operation until the well is completely full. Additional cement will then
be added under pressure to force the grout through the well screen and into the filterpack, and
subsequently checked for subsidence. If the grout level is observed to have dropped, additional
cement will be added under pressure until it stabilizes. Upon stabilization, the well box and and
surrounding soil will be removed to a depth of at least 3 feet by overdrilling with a 24-inch
diameter auger. The well casing will then be cut off approximately 6 inches above the bottom of
the excavation. Neat cement grout will be allowed to spill over the well casing and fill the void
to at least 6 inches above the cut casing. After the sealing materials have sufficiently set, the
excavation will be backfilled with clean, native soil. The unused soil and well debris will be
placed in a DOT approved 55-gallon drum or an on-site bin for disposal to a landfill.
Based upon well construction details, we expect a minimum of 6 gallons of neat cement grout
will be required for each well.
C:Vobs\Bawto\Fmnch Camp\WELLDST_wmkplmdoc
