S
November 1990 -5- M88168D I \ I
Monitoring Well Construction. Drill hole MW-1 was completed as a
ground water monitoring well. Monitoring well construction specifications were
in compliance with CCR, Title 23 , Section 2647. Monitoring well construction
specifications are described in Appendix C, and the monitoring well schematic is
contained in Appendix A in conjunction with the monitoring well log.
It should be noted that monitoring well MW-1 was completed to a depth
' of 80 feet bgs and currently exist as a dry well. This well may be utilized once
the ground water table in the area rebounds to normal, historical, elevations.
Ground Water Sampling. On October 9, 1990, a ground water sample was
collected from within the hollow stem auger at DH-2 at a depth of approximately
90 feet bgs for laboratory analysis of TPH, BTEX, and total lead. This ground
water sample was collected from inside the hollow stem auger because the drill
rig had reached its mechanical limit and the construction of a proper ground
water monitoring well was not possible (see Appendix C, Monitoring Well
Construction Section) .
I
j FINDINGS
i
SITE CONDITIONS
The Color Spot Lodi facility is centrally located in the northern
portion of the north-northwest-trending San Joaquin Valley. The facility is
located in a semi-rural portion of San Joaquin County, about 1 mile south of the
City of Lodi. The general surrounding land uses ar residential and agricultural.
Specifically, as of October 1990, to the north of the site are a cemetery,
residential development, and a nursery. To the east is a vineyard, to the south
is apple orchards, and to the west is a frontage road and State Highway 99.
The elevation of the site is approximately 50 feet above mean sea
level, with site drainage to the south. Ground water underlies the site at a
Idepth of greater than 90 feet bgs. Bear Creek is approximately 1 mile south of
the site.
