Of the four active wells,
three are to the northwest, including one reported to withdraw water for longer I
periods of time and at higher rates than the well to the south. However, of the
t,.: trace concentrations of fuel constituents detected in samples from all the wells,
the concentrations are highest in the southernmost well. In fact, the level,
j gradient, and flow direction may change depending upon the pumping saiiedules of
these nearby wells. More data collection and analysis would be necessary to
LA The nearby wells' pumping
characterize the dynamic hydrogeology at the site.
i.,,A schedules, discharge rates, and wellhead elevations would need to be considered
along with water level measurements taken over time.
F.r
1 • Existing evidence suggests that hydrocarbon contamination from the i
p
former UST has not migrated or. leached through the soil into the ground water and ;
--...•.
will not in the future. The UST and the ad_',acent soil to a depth of approxi-
mately 15 feet have been excavated and removed from the site. Confirmatory soil
samples from the base of the excavation contained fuel constituents at
concentrations orders of magnitude below DHS action levels for drinking water
! ' (see SGD report dated February 1990 listed above). Eight sail samples from four
drill holes flanking the former UST location contained very low concentrations
-r of fuel constituents, if any (see SGD report dated November 1990 listed above).
..; SGD continues to recommend closure of this siy:e with respect to hydrocarbon
contamination from the subject UST.
1
c
CLOSURE
This letter-report has been prepared for the exclusive use of Color f .
Spot, Inc. , with specific applications to the assigned portions of the subject
property.
