1
' 2 0 SCOPE OF WORK
The objectives of the project were to further define the impact to groundwater below the water table,
and to establish a groundwater monitoring capability downgradient of the plume of impacted
groundwater To achieve these objectives, cone penetration test(CPT) borings were advanced for
discrete groundwater sampling at six on-site locations, a two-well monitoring well cluster was
installed downgradient of the existing monitoring well network, and quarterly groundwater
monitoring, sampling and analysis continued
' 21 Planning and Permitting
Prior to initiating fieldwork, a site-specific health and safety plan addendum was prepared according
to 29 CFR 1910 120 The health and safety plan included safety procedures for work to be
performed, chemical hazard information, site safety officers, and a medical emergency location
For the proposed work, drilling permits were obtained from PHSIEHD Since all of the drilling was
' on-site, neither encroachment permits nor private property access agreements were required
At least two working days prior to field activities, Ramage Environmental notified PHSIEHD so that
inspections could be scheduled Underground Service Alert was also notified so that members
could mark any underground utilities
22 Cone Penetration Testing
' Between February 21 and March 5, 2002, Gregg In-Situ, Inc (Gregg), a state of California licensed
drilling contractor (C-57#656407) drilled six on-site CPT borings, to further determine the soil
stratigraphy, and to evaluate the vertical and lateral extent of impacted groundwater beneath the
groundwater table One CPT boring (CPT-1 B) was located at CPT-1 and advanced to a total depth
of approximately 155 feet to identify and discretely sample any groundwater-bearing intervals below
r125 feet The five other CPT borings (CPT-2, 3, 4, 5, and 6) were located approximately 120 feet
east, 30 feet south, 240 feet west, 220 feet northwest, and 150 feet north of the former UST (Figure
2) The five other CPT borings were extended to depths ranging from approximately 153 to 160
feet bgs The CPT logs are included in Appendix B
7
