Each of the four monitoring wells (MW-6, MW-7, VW-1 and VW-2) was purged of at least three
well volumes using a decontaminated bailer. Following purging and recharge, groundwater_
9
samples were collected from the four wells using dedicated and disposable sampling bailers.
i
Irrigation Well#2 was allowed to flow at the wellhead until the downhole pump was automatically
activated. A groundwater sample was collected directly at the wellhead through a sample port.
The groundwater samples were contained in laboratory-supplied glassware, labeled, and
packed in an iced cooler for transport with chain-of-custody documentation to Kiff Analytical, LLC
(Kiff) a state of California certified analytical laboratory (#2236).
Kiff analyzed the groundwater samples for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH)-as-gasoline,
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX), methyl-t-butyl ether (MTBE), diisopropyl ether }
(DIPE), ethyl-t-butyl ether(ETBE), tert-amyl methyl ether (TAME), tert-butanol (TBA) and 1,2-
dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) by EPA Method 82606. The laboratory reports and chain-of-custody
documents are included as Appendix A.
Analytical results of the groundwater samples indicate that dissolved concentrations of
F gasoline
4 hydrocarbons continue to exist in groundwater beneath the site. Groundwater sampled from
VW-2 contained 180 parts per billion (ppb) of TPH-as-gasoline, 16 ppb of ethylbenzene, 280
Lppb of MTBE, 21 ppb of TBA and 32 ppb of 1,2-DCA. Groundwater sampled from VW-1 was
non-detect for TPH-as-gasoline, but contained 1.8 ppb of MTBE and 0.56 ppb of 1,2-DCA.
Groundwater sampled from Irrigation Well#2 was also non-detect to TPH-as-gasoline, but
contained 1.5 ppb of xylenes. Groundwater sampled from MW-6 and MW-7 did not contain
Ldetectable concentrations of TPH-as-gasoline, BTEX, oxygenates (MTBE, DIPE, ETRE, TAME,
r TBA), or 1,2-DCA. The historical analytical results from (1990 through 1998) are summarized in
L
Table 2. The most recent analytical results (1999 through 2000) are summarized in Table 3.
k
M
F
I
1 5
f
