Harding Way
Stockton, CA 95205
1
San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division(PHS/EHD)
has reviewed the Summary Report, Subsurfce Investigation Report dated December 22,
1997 for the above referenced site prepared by Smith Environmental Technologies
Corporation. Soil sample analytical results evidence Toluene and Xylene in soil at 30
feet below surface grade in the area of the previously located Underground Storage Tanks
(USTs). The vertical and lateral extent of contamination at the above referenced site has
not been determined.
i
In a telephone conversation on June 17, 1998 with Tom Lutterman-of ATC Associates
Incorporated, PHS/EHD discussed the need for determining historical groundwater depth
at this site during the USTs operational period in consideration for the potential for
groundwater contamination. If the historical groundwater level is confirmed to have
been within 25 feet of the deepest confirmed contamination then vertical assessment to
and/or below the historical low groundwater level is warranted.
Submit a Work Plan to PHS/EHD to determine the lateral and vertical extent of
contamination at this site by May 31, 1999. if the contamination is confirmed to be
limited a Closure report as discussed in Appendix B Tri Regional Board Staff
Recommendations should be submitted to PHS/EHD.
