4 Cardno®
January 17,2014 ATC
Eggiman Well Destruction Report
.Shaping the Future
The grout was brought to grade and the area surrounding.the well box was resurfaced to match the.surrounding
surface completion.
Wells Abandoned by Pressure Grouting
Groundwater monitoring wells MW8 and MW11 were destroyed by pressure grouting. This process began with
removal of the well box and locking plug and advancingra 24-inch diameter borehole to a:depth of approximately 36
inches around the well casing using.an.air knife. The well casing was.cut off 30.inches_below grade and removed. :
Then a specialized pressure-grouting tool was affixed to the well casing to deliver and emplace a neat cement grout
slurry under pressure into the well until the slurry was injected into the sand filter pack and filled the remaining
- casing. When the grout extended to the top of the well casing,sair-pressure of 25 PSI was applied to the well•I
casing for approximately five minutes: Additional grout was then poured into the top of the well casing as was
necessary. Following the.pressure procedure, additional grout was, made to overflow into the excavation and form a
minimum 24-inch diameter"mushroom cap" like seal, with at least 12 inches of neat cement grout poured 6 inches
`above and 6 inches below the top of the cut-off casing'Any-remaining soil-voids were backfilled compacted and_ .,_--_-_,y
resurfaced to match the surrounding.surface completion. a
Well Completion/Destruction Reports
In accordance with California State Law, WellPompletion/Destruction Reports of the destroyed wells have been
prepared and submitted to the EHD by Cascade Drilling.,Due.to;regarding the-confidential,natu re of welf.data,:the
information:submitted.to.the,DWR:is.not_attachedto-this.report.
Investigative Derived Waste Disposal
The removed well boxes, sand pack and grout were placed in roll off bins and drums and the groundwater that was
displaced to the surface during grout emplacement was pumped out of the excavation, collected, placed into DOT
approved drums until profiling was complete.
The wastes were removed by American Integrated Services, Inc. of Fairfield, California in November 2013 and
disposed at the Recology Hay Road Landfill in Vacaville, California and Crosby &Overton, Inc. in Long Beach,
California. Manifests associated with the roll-off bin and drums are included in Attachment 1.
www.cardnozitc.com
