The EHD has been informed that
the work should be performed during the third quarter 2009. In December 2008 the EHD
informed you that a soil gas investigation should be performed and use of a fate and transport
model should be considered to show how far the MTBE will migrate and when all areas of the
plume of contaminated groundwater will reach the Central Valley Regional Water Quality
Control Board water duality goals prior to submittal of an environmental risk assessment or
submitting a closure request: Please proceed with this work so that your site can be evaluated
for a No Further Action Required determination.
As you may be aware the State Water Resources Control Board passed Resolution 2009-0042
on May 19, 2009, that includes a resolve to reduce quarterly monitoring at underground storage
tank cleanup sites to semi-annual or less frequent unless quarterly monitoring is warranted.
Therefore, the sampling of monitoring wells MW1, MW2, MW3, MW4, MW7, MW8, MW9,
MW10, MW11, MW12C, MW13A1B, MW13C, MW14A, MW15A, MW15B, MW02, MW)3 and
MW0-1xl can be reduced to twice a year.
If you have any questions contact me at (209)468-3449;
Margaret Lagorio, REHS
Program Coordinator
cc Jim Barton, CVRWQCB
Sarah Salcedo, Stratus Environmental Inc., 3330 Cameron Park Dr. Ste 5501, Cameron
Park, CA 95682
