Joe's Truck Stop
Page 3
May 18, 2000
OBJECTIVE
i
The objective of the investigation is to establish the severity, and extent if possible of a known b
groundwater impact at the subject property.
SCOPE OF WORK
Site Safety and Health Plan
I
Prior to subsurface testing, as required by law, a Site Safety and Health plan (Attached)
will be prepared in order to insure that all workers and sub-contractors are aware of the
y_ risks and_safety procedures associated,with this_P__hase,lI;Subsurface.Site_Assessment.V_.
-. - . . - z
i
Permits
Prior to subsurface testing,;encroachment permits will be obtained from the'City of
Lathrop, as several of the proposed geoprobe borings will be placed in the City Right-of
Way. Additionally, permits will be obtained from the CHSSJC prior to initiation of
drilling.
Underground Service Alert
As required by law, Underground Service Alert (USA) will be contacted to check the
proposed geoprobe locations for conflict with public utilities, such as gas or electrical
lines. Geophysical methods will be used to clear borings located in or near utility
trenches to avoid conflict or damage to utilities. !
Subsurface Testing
Ten geoprobe borings will be placed both onsite and offsite. Geoprobe borings will r
i be advanced to a depth of 20 feet bgs and will be continuous cores. Detailed _w w
,Iithologic d6scriptio'nswiil'be'rriade in each geoprobe boring. "Soil samples, will be
collected every five feet and select samples will be analyzed for TPH-D and TPH-G by
EPA Modified 8015, BTEX'by EPA Method 8260, and for Oxygenated Compounds
which will include Tertiary Butanol, MTBE, DIPE, ETBE, and TAME. Groundwater grab
samples will be collected a from each geoprobe boring and will be analyzed for TPH-D
and TPH-G by EPA Modified 8015, BTEX by EPA Method 8260, and for Oxygenated
Compounds which will include Tertiary Butanol, MTBE, DIPE, ETBE, and TAME. All
samples will be analyzed by a Department of Health Services (DHS)-Certified
i
Laboratory.
ii
k
