The on-site personnel must also be able to accurately describe their work location(s) <br /> accurately to authorities in the event of an emergency requiring outside assistance <br /> 1 <br /> 12.1 Fire <br /> Only Factory Mutual (FM) approved fire safety cans will be used to transport <br /> and store flammable liquids All gasoline and diesel-driven engines requiring <br /> refueling must be shutdown and allowed to cool before filing Smoking is not <br /> allowed during any operations within the work area in which petroleum <br /> products or solvents in free-floating, dissolved or vapor forms, or other <br /> flammable liquids may be present <br /> No open flame or spark is allowed in any area containing petroleum products <br /> or other flammable liquids. <br /> 12.2 Injury/Illness <br /> The severity of on-site injury/illness will be assessed by on-site personnel A <br /> first- aid kit will be available for minor injuries <br /> Conditions requiring medical treatment will be handled as follows <br /> lie • Minor Injury/Illness: Person will be assisted with decontamination and <br /> available on-site treatment will be rendered If treatment by a physician <br /> is indicted, the person will be transported by car to the nearest <br /> emergency medical facility by project field staff <br /> • Major Injuries/illness If condition requires ambulance, emergency <br /> medical treatment will be summoned by dialing "911" If <br /> decontamination (could consist of cutting/tearing off contaminated <br /> protective clothing) can be performed without risking further injury or <br /> resulting in lost time, this shall be conducted while awaiting assistance <br /> in addition to whatever first aid may be rendered it is anticipated the <br /> work on this project will not involve extremely hazardous contaminants <br /> Medical personnel will be informed of the nature of potential <br /> contaminants on the victim by the FSS <br /> 12.3 Weather <br /> Severe weather shall serve as a basis to ease or suspend outdoor field <br /> operations Examples include snow, high winds, temperature extremes and <br /> rain.
