• The analytical laboratory will be one accredited by the American Industrial Hygiene <br /> Association The results of the personal air monitoring for lead and PCBs will dictate <br /> what type of respirator is appropriate A quarter or half-face air purifying respirator can <br /> be used for airborne lead concentrations below 0 5 mg/ml A full-face respirator can <br /> be used for airborne lead levels not exceeding 2 5 mg/ml will require an upgrade to <br /> Level B PPE A quarter or half-face air purifying respirator can be used for airborne <br /> PCB concentrations below 5 mg/ml A full-face respirator can be used for airborne PCB <br /> levels not exceeding 25 mg/m3 will require an upgrade to Level B PPE <br /> When the workplace atmosphere has been characterized, this information, along with <br /> data on the toxicity of the contaminants present, will be used to determine the level of <br /> PPE required in the work area <br /> It is not Avalon's policy to have its staff perform work requiring Level B protection If <br /> it is determined that conditions warrant Level B protection, work will stop until the <br /> contractor's previous experience conducting drilling, sampling or removal operations <br /> in Level B protection is verified or until training for Level B work is given to contractors <br /> by qualified personnel and until Avalon determines if a separate subcontractor will be <br /> retained to conduct Level B operations or whether to have the current contractors <br /> conduct the operations with ESC maintaining an oversight role (observing from outside <br /> the immediate work zone) <br /> .
