Request for Deadline Extension for Notice to Abate,Tosco BP 76 Branded Facility No.III95,16500 South Interstate S,i athrop,California Mr.htf lr= Pursuant to our conversation on June I7, 1998,and at the raquc=of Tosco Marketing Company (Iosco),GeUlrf-Ryan Inc.(GR)is requesting a deadline extension for the Notice to Abate issued by the San Joaquin County Envir=m=tal Health Division(SiCERD)for the subject site. The Notice to Abate requires proper destruction of an existing abandoned water well at the site by June 19, 1998. _ GR is requesting the extension in order that a down-hole camera survey can be performed on the well. The purpose of ft--a survey is to deuxmine the construction of the well and to msp= the condition of well casing. The camera survey is necessary to determine the most appropriax method of desuuction. T'vo potential methods of destruction are under cc r siideration for the water well- The methods are perforation of the casing and grouting the casing in place or overdd tug the casing and grouting. GR has contacted numerous C-57 Iiseaced drilling contractors concerning their availability m destroy the well by either method. Based on these disarsmns,GR is proposing Ufc following deadline extensions for physically destroying the by each method.
