Interstate 5
Lathrop, CA., 95330
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division
(PHS-EHD) has reviewed the "Work Plan for Supplemental Site Investigation"
dated May 18, 1998 as submitted by Alisto Engineering on May 26, 1998 and
has the following comments.
UGT sites are required to vertically delineate the contaminated soil and
groundwater plumes during the investigative phase. In order to verify the soil
conditions at the historical deepest (drought) depth to groundwater known to
exist below this site while underground tanks were present, soil samples are to
be collected and analyzed in five foot increments to 20 feet below the ground
surface. Soil data collected during the assessment phase will be used to profile
the subsurface conditions at the site and help evaluate the need for and design
of the remediation method.
Analytical methods proposed in the work plan do not provide for Methanol and
Ethanol analyses. EPA Method 8015m (direct injection) is an acceptable method
for these constituents and it should be added to your scope of work for all
groundwater samples from all monitoring wells or soil borings drilled into the
groundwater. If the results are valid and indicate that Methanol and Ethanol are
not present, their analyses will not be required to be repeated.
On June 5, 1998, PHS-EHD witnessed the purging and sampling of the
domestic/drinking water well recently discovered on site. Additional sampling as
proposed in this work plan is not required by PHS-EHD. A permit for it's
destruction is in the process of being approved by PHS-EHD. Please check with
Michael Infurna at (209) 468-3454 if you have any questions concerning the
analytical results or destruction procedures for this well.
On June 5, 1998, Alisto check #1097 was returned to Brady Nagle because the
amount was incorrect.
