NRC Equity Fund 1
3.0 GRO-TECH GREENHOUSES
This Project will install up to thirty
(30) new ten thousand square feet
in size (10,000 sq. ft.) Gro-Tech
_ greenhouses at the property
location. The area set aside for
Greenhouse installation is 300,000
square feet situtated upon 17 acres
_ - of the 23 acre parcel.
Gro-tech's proprietary building
- system utilizes interconnected build
modules. This building is 42 x 204
feet. Multiple zones have their own integrated light deprivation.
PATENTED LIGHT DEPRIVATION SYSTEM
A patented automated light deprivation (ALD) system is at the core of the design. Instead
of retrofitting an automated light deprivation system to an existing greenhouse, the light
deprivation system was designed first and then the structures built around it. This allows
the advantages of indoor growing without the drawbacks of traditional greenhouses. The
system was specifically engineered to promote easy assembly and functionality without
sacrificing quality or design.
The patented automated system opens and closes a three-layer, breathable blackout fabric
within minutes. Using materials including galvanized 2" x 2" square steel tubing for
increased stability and marine grade lubricants, proper functioning and complete blackout
of the systems is ensured.
The square tubing provides two flat surfaces to marry and create a true blackout system
without the use of flimsy rubber gaskets. That is combined with the four-corner roller
assembly, fixed and leading edge (c-channel), and no-snag gutter system.
• A Unique Rollet Assembly is installed in all four corners for even weight
distribution. When the system is opened or closed, the weight is evenly distributed
to reduce friction and wear on the breathable blackout material.
• A Square Tubing and C-Channel Closure System provide a gasket-free, light
tight seal. Most systems use aluminum extrusions and gaskets. Aluminum extrusions
are weak and flimsy and gaskets a maintenance issue.
• A Snag-Free Metal Gutter System is used, as opposed to the common use of
ground cloth for the bottom of the curtain. The system has a supportive purlin
along the length of the gutter to make it completely rigid, which ensures smooth
opening and closure of the curtain.
Page 13 1 54
