ABSTRACT
The purpose of this write-up is to describe ultraviolet light
catalyzed hydrogen peroxide oxidation and to introduce Rayox, an
example of one vendor' s powerful, broad spectrum technology for
the in-stream destruction of toxic or persistent waterborne
contaminants. The concept of enhanced oxidation is explained
along with the reasons why Rayox is described as a second
generation enhanced oxidation system. Examples of the
destruction of a broad range of hazardous organic compounds, such
as chlorinated organics, which were contained in various real
contaminated waste and groundwater streams are provided. These
results will help illustrate why second-generation enhanced
oxidation systems like Rayox are the treatment system of choice
in destroying hazardous waterborne contaminants.
-3-
