4.2 Physical Hazards <br /> V. <br /> The physical hazards that may be encountered in the course of field <br /> activities at the site are listed below, along with mitigative <br /> measures which may be taken to reduce the potential hazard: <br /> Hazard Mitigating Measures <br /> Noise Use of earplugs/earmuffs, if conversation is <br /> difficult at three feet. <br /> Utilities Maintain 10-foot distance from overhead lines; use <br /> locator services for buried utilities; notify <br /> Underground Service Alert as appropriate and <br /> 6W others who may be affected by drilling activities, <br /> at least two days in advance. <br /> Heat Stress Be aware of heat stress symptoms such as nausea, <br /> headache, lightheadedness, lack of coordination, <br /> decreased job performance, or slurred speech; use <br /> work/rest cycles as appropriate; drink <br /> water/Gatorade on regular basis. <br /> Accidents Be aware of surroundings; good housekeeping; <br /> perform daily inspections of equipment; <br /> report/repair all broken equipment immediately. <br /> Fire/explosion The constituents identified in Section 4.1 are <br /> very flammable. As such, all sparks/flame must be <br /> kept out of the active work area.
