kn KLEINFELDER f
U" ##
ppmv in the 6-foot sample. A summary of the samples collected and the FID readings is
r presented on Table 1.
For the protection of the field crew, the FID was also used to measure the total ionizable
concentration in the breathing zone prior to and while drilling the borings. No consistent
readings were noted in the breathing zone above 1 ppmv while drilling the borings.
3.3 Sample Handling and Analytical Results
Three soil samples from boring B-4 and two soil samples from m the remaining seven borings
t
were submitted to Superior Precision Analytical, Inc. (Superior) in Martinez, California for
analysis. Superior is certified by the California Department of Toxic Substance Control to
perform the analysis requested.
All soil samples were shipped in a cooled ice chest under chain-of-custody procedures. Three
samples were submitted from boring B-4, because it was the only area with visible surface
staining. Samples tested were selected from depths of 6 feet and 31 feet, the bottom of each
boring. The upper sample of borings B-1 and B-2 were selected at 11 feet because the boring
locations were in a backfilled trench area.
F The 17 samples collected were submitted for the following analysis:
 i
Total. Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) Extractable
► TPH Purgeable
L ► Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, and Xylenes (BTEX)
Of the 17 samples analyzed, only one soil sample contained petroleum hydrocarbons above
U laboratory reporting limits. Boring B-4 at a depth of 6 feet had a TPH Extractable
concentration of 11,000 mg/kg. TPH purgeable and BTEX were below minimum detection
limits. A summary of analytical results for the 17 soil samples analyzed is presented on Table
2. Chain-of-Custody forms and Laboratory Data Reports are presented in Appendix C.
U
U
24-220152-E00/GRI-01(1993) Page 4 of 7 October 27, 1993 I
L Copyright 1993 KLeinfelder, Inc.
