KLEINFELDER
File No. 23 -480020 .D00
August 26, 1994
I
;1
5. 0 RESULTS
5. 1 CHEMICAL ANALYTICAL RESULTS
Two (2) soil samples were submitted under chain-of-custody procedures to APPL Laboratories a
State of California certified laboratory to provide a quantitative assessment of petroleum
j hydrocarbons and lead in the soil at the site. The soil samples selected for analysis were based on
PID readings, field observations, and the objectives of the work scope. Analytical results for the
soil samples are summarized on Table 1 . The laboratory data sheets and chain-of-custody form
are included in Appendix D. The soil samples were submitted for laboratory analysis to
determine the presence and concentration of.
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (Purgeable), Gasoline Range by EPA Method
li ) 8015M/5030 (TPH-G)
• Benzene, Toulene, Ethylbenzene, Xylenes by EPA Method 8020 (BTEX)
l Total Lead by EPA Methods
The soil sample obtained from Boring B4 at a depth of 20 feet contained 290 mg/kg TPH-G, 4.7
mg/kg Ethyl Benzene, 8.0 mg/kg Xylenes, and 7.0 mg/kg Lead (Pb).
J The soil sample obtained from Boring 13-2 at a depth of 18 feet was mislabeled on the Chain-of-
Custody as B- 1 at 18 feet. This sample contained 250 mg/kg TPH-G, 1 .7 mg/kg Ethyl Benzene,
Il 7.0 mg/kg Xylenes, and 8. 1 mg/kg Lead (Pb).
11
5.2 GEOTECHNICAL LABORATORY RESULTS
I I
I Five (5) soil samples were evaluated for moisture, density, and strength characteristics. The
l samples were selected for evaluation on the basis of location and depth relative to our
understanding of the depth and type of excavation. The results are summarized on the
f geotechnical laboratory summary sheet in Appendix D.
_ . 1
ErH and 7EI94
Irl Copyright 1994 Kleinfelder, Inc.
